FLOOD APPEAL 2009

Bula fellow TCO's ...!

It's been a while and some of you may have thought we were down which maybe true as it's been awhile since we've updated our Blog Site, but we are definitely not out.

Somethings have been happening behind the scene so to speak and I take this opportunity to thank all of you guys who were involved in the TCO's Flood Appeal project especially JD, AEG & JT.

This indeed is a milestone as far as TCO's is concerned and people, especially those who live around us are now taking notice of our existence. All our grog session's and get together are now bearing fruition and it sure feels great.

Assisting our fellow citizens in their hour of need is one of the greatest deed any individual or organization can undertake and for us to have been able to do something like this is in my view ,a 'deserve a pat in the back' job well done.

Mind you guys, it's not over yet as there are countless others who are still in need of some sort of assistance and it can be a very challenging task indeed. I am confident that with our concerted efforts, TCO's can and will somehow make a difference to some of these unfortunate people's lives.

We may not receive monetary benefits from our efforts but the feeling that we get watching the joy that's derived from the assistance we give is more than any sort of payment we could get and I quote JT "The joy in the eyes of the people we helped was great"

And lest we forget, I take this opportunity to say a big VINAKA VAKALEVU to all our overseas friends who are the most important players here for their contributions without which we would not have been able to achieved our goal.
I would also appreciate it if AEG & JT would convey to them our most sincere and deep appreciation for their assistance.

Here are some photo's form the mattress handover at Waimalika on Wednesday, 18th February 2009.

Vinaka va'levu guys and keep up the good work!

Vinaka Kai and Naita

Below are some photo's taken on the 21st February 2009 at Nasoso while packing the left over stuff from Waimalika. The packed stuff are still at home awaiting Master Emosi's arrival from Suva and delivery to his school will be decided after he gets in.

The Word for Today Daily Devotional - How To Keep Your Job

Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

James 1:19 NIV

Eighty percent of the time people don't lose their job because of technical incompetence, but because of relational incompetence - they don't know how to get along with other people. If you master the three instructions that James gives, the likelihood of that happening to you will go down to just about zero.

(1) Be quick to listen! By staying calm and refusing to react, you gain insight - and respect! "A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control" (Proverbs 29:11 NIV).
(2) Be slow to speak! If you talk too much or too fast, here are three tips to slow you down: (a) Stop. Just stop talking. Inhale. Count up to 10. Excuse yourself and go to the bathroom. (b) Practice not interrupting. Allow the other person to continue what they're saying until they're through. (c) Ask yourself: Why am I talking so much? Is it insecurity? Anxiety? The need to control? A desire to impress? The reason most of us try to convince, impress or control others is because we have a hard time trusting God to work things out. In other words, "our talk issue is a trust issue."
(3) Be slow to anger! If you observe the first two principles, you'll tend to come out all right on number three. It'll just happen.

You can make progress on these three things - and you can start today. And if you do it consistently year after year you'll get to the end of your life and say to yourself, "I'm so grateful that I took the wisdom of God seriously."

SETTING OUR OWN STANDARDS

Bula again form the Desk of The Prez!!

The sky is the limit people....I know we are all proud of JT for his achievement and if he can do it why can't we?.
We can not all be General Managers or Directors etc., but the point is.....we give it our best shot by setting standards not for the sake of being noticed by outsiders but rather for ourselves. We know our capabilities and what other people say or think should really not concern us so much beacause at the end of the day, we will be judged by our individual achievements.

Got this piece from the Vine @ http://www.thevine.co.nz ....it indeed is a great piece and a fitting one at that too considering the great news we've just received!

Set Higher Standards For Yourself!
The Lord tested Joseph's character.
Psalm 105:19 NLT
The life of Joseph teaches us that the road to success isn't easy. It involves having a dream nobody else believes in, and holding onto it through the hardest of times. It involves handling resentment from those closest to you and keeping a good attitude. It involves maintaining your integrity when faced each day with temptation. It involves being so honest that the prison warden would trust you with the keys. It involves being gracious when you have the power to retaliate. It involves saying the right things to yourself when those around you are saying the opposite. It involves staying so prepared that even though your dreams are delayed, when God opens the door you're ready to walk through it. That's what the Bible means when it says, "Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph's character" (Psalm 105:19 NLT)

Take a moment and read these profound words by Dianne Snedaker: "If you are interested in success, it's easy to set standards in terms of other people's accomplishments and then let other people measure you by those standards. But the standards you set for yourself are always more important. They should be higher than the standards anyone else would set for you, because in the end you have to live with yourself, and judge yourself, and feel good about yourself. And the best way to do that is to live up to your highest potential. So set your standards high and keep them high, even if you think no one else is looking. Somebody out there will always notice, even if it's just you."

The challenge is now on us, the ball is now in our courts so to speak and with the requested guidance of our Lord, nothing will be impossible!

ARE YOU READY FOR 2008

ARE YOU READY FOR 2008?

Bula TCO’s!

I’m writing this note at 16:24hours on the first working day of the year 2008 and I’m really amazed at the rate the day has passed.
I’m sure most of us will have made some sort of plans or set up goals and achievements for this year.
I think that is a very good and honorable idea as we have to have some sort of guideline set out in order for us to achieve our goals.
I, for one am planning to be more family focussed this year and get to know my families and spend more time with them especially my children. We all know how time flies as one day they are still with us and before we realise it they are out there in the world and how they perform on their own really depends on how we bring them up.
This of course does not mean that I will not want to be with you my friends from time to time but it’s just that I may not be spending more time with you.
On the subject of spending time together as friends, I think it’s now time that we start thinking of when to have our first meeting and I’ll leave to our Secretary to call one whenever he thinks it’s appropriate to have it.
I know that we have on more than 100 times during these last 3 or 4 years been talking about something together and I feel that we should never abandon the thought.
Lastly on these, my first posting this year, I would like to wish you and your families a Happy & Prosperous New Year.

The Rebekah Principle

The Rebekah Principle
Those who work hard will prosper.
Proverbs 13:4 NLT

Good leaders constantly observe the actions and attitudes of those around them. They're looking for someone they can trust; someone who sees the big picture yet doesn't miss the details. And when they find them they reward them! Don't wait for tomorrow, empty your best into today and watch what happens. Rebekah did and she inherited the wealth of Abraham, became the bride of Isaac and the mother of a nation. What a payoff! When Abraham's assistant was sent to find a bride for Isaac, he asked God for a sign to confirm his choice. He said that the woman who would voluntarily offer him and his camels a drink of water would be the one. Do you have any idea how much water one thirsty camel can drink? Abraham's assistant was looking for someone who wanted to serve rather than be served: in a 'me first' world that's hard to find!

Notice Rebekah's qualifications. She was motivated and time conscious: "She… ran to the well." She was thorough: "[She] drew water for all his camels" (Genesis 24:20). That one act of kindness altered the rest of her life. She'd been to that well many times before and nothing unusual happened, but that day she found favour and her life changed for good. What if she'd missed her opportunity, or said, "That's not my responsibility?"

Whether you realise it or not your actions and attitudes are determining your future. So perform with excellence for someone is watching; someone God may use to help you get to the next level. Live by the Rebekah principle - always do more than is required of you, and do it gladly!

Weekend News from JD's Corner

Bula All!!
After watching the George 7's Final,I conluded that Fiji is at the moment the 2nd best team after NZ.If we do not get in a good finisher wing and a good kicker then unfortunately we do not stand achance against NZ.Naba has to be dropped,We need a specialist playmaker and defence has to improve. The players are good but not fit enough for the series.Hopefully we can get Naevo, but he derserves a break after a busy hectic season.Put Ryder and Nasoni Roko and Lepani with Who else but Wai himself if we wanna go somewhere in 7's for the rest of the series, otherwise,I am sorry but we will only go down the ranking not up.
To make things worse Hatton lost, but to a superior fighter.I had hoped he won jst to shut up Mayweather's big mouth, but his hands were as good as his mouth.Hope you all had a good weekend,Sa vakacava tiko na item..keitou sa tekivu tiko na practice..sa rauta.
Qarase is talking louder now and bloody Daman made me to work, putting up shutters, but good to be prepared...sa yaga na scout.
Sa kena levu ga ni vakadidike...that's all I can say for now...So mai yasana qori...Have a nice week, everyone.
Vinaka.

Another Week and Getting Closer (OLDER)!

Bula vinaka TCO's!
Yet another week has come & gone (sorry no posting last week as was a bit busy)and we are getting closer day by day to the end of another year. It's amazing how fast the days seem to be passing by and it only seemed like yesterday that we were celebrating the end of last year. Well peoples, one thing is for certain....we are not getting any younger as each passing day brings us closer to our next birthday!
There's no particular announcement to make but it looks like we are all or have all been busy hence our not being able to convene a TCO's Meeting. I will not be available to attend to any meeting this month as I have family commitments until after the end of the month. This shouldn't be any excuse not to hold one and I'm calling on the Secretary and Treasurer to please try and convene one before the end of this month, October 2007.
It's important that we keep in touch and more so to try and clear our finances within next month, November 2007.
It's also time for us to start thinking/preparing for our end of the year 'do' and I'm suggesting something similar if not the same thing we did at the 'JT's' for the birthdays in September.
I'll leave it to you guys to talk about it if and when there is a meeting before the end of this month.
Last but not least, I'm inviting you all to my brothers 'vakataraisulu' on the 27th Oct'07 which will be held at the Soqosoqo Vakamarama Hall in Nabua, Suva starting at 0900hrs.It'll be great to see you guys there and guy's....you know what?.....this'll be your best chance to 'buturaki' me as I won't have any say at all in how strong the grog should be....da dui muria noda i yatu!!!.
Sa donu and may you all have a blessed week!

MESSAGE BOARD !

1. We will now have our next club meeting on the 28th September. The venue is still to be be decided. So guys, if someone wants to host, please let us know!

2. You guys who missed out on the Birthday Bash we had at the Tuamoto's last Saturday, we had a brief discussion about doing a similar thing for our Christmas Party as all of us who were there sort of liked the idea. You don't really have to go to an Island on a day cruise or to a beach to enjoy yourself. Hopefully, JT's offer of hosting the venue still stands. Further discussion to be held in our meeting. Neiba, this time we may have to help supply the 'cough mixture' as I'm sure there'll be plenty of coughing that day!

3. Osea's off to the States (Monday 17th) to attend a seminar on his business and we should wish him luck and hopefully he'll come back more revitalized.

4. Last but not least, our finances - for those of us who still owe money to the club, please make an effort to settle asap and those who were guarantors to outside loans, please follow up. Remember, you are responsible!!

That's it from me and if someone else has something to add, please help yourself!
